Wiltshire Short Mat Bowling Association is the recognised governing body for the sport of Short Mat Bowls in the county of Wiltshire. The WSMBA is affiliated to the English Short Mat Bowling Association which governs the sport at a National Level.
Wiltshire Short Mat Bowling Association was formed in 1999 to encourage, support and administer the playing of short mat bowls in the county. During the winter season we organise county Fours leagues in three geographically based areas - north, central and south Wiltshire. The top two teams in each league then come together in April to play for the Stevens trophy. During the summer we organise a mixed-format league competition. Each year we organise a programme of county championships and National Championship qualifying competitions. All competitions are open to any of the county’s (ESMBA) registered players.
The county also enters a team in the ESMBA Inter-County Championship competitions.
Short Mat Bowls is a sport which is played by people of all ages and abilities. Wiltshire Clubs are always pleased to greet new members - look for your local club in the Clubs Directory and get involved!
